Is Tiktok Getting Banned In The Us Today

TikTok Faces Forced Sale or Ban as House Passes Legislation

Bipartisan Bill Garners Overwhelming Support

President Biden Backs Effort

Washington, D.C. - The House of Representatives has passed legislation that could force the popular social media app TikTok to sell its operations in the United States or face a possible ban.

The legislation, which was approved by a bipartisan majority, would require TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, to divest its ownership of the app within 90 days. If ByteDance fails to comply, TikTok could be banned from operating in the United States.

President Biden has expressed support for the legislation, saying that he believes it is necessary to protect the national security interests of the United States.

TikTok has come under scrutiny in recent years amid concerns that the Chinese government could use the app to collect data on American users. The company has denied these allegations, but the concerns have persisted.

The legislation passed by the House would address these concerns by requiring TikTok to divest its ownership of the app and to establish an independent board of directors. The board would be responsible for overseeing the app's operations and ensuring that it does not pose a threat to national security.

The legislation now moves to the Senate, where it is expected to face further debate. If the Senate passes the legislation, it will be sent to President Biden for his signature.
