Russell Takes Pole at Silverstone, Mercedes Lock Out Front Row

Hamilton Second, Norris Third as Home Crowd Cheers

George Russell clinched a sensational pole position for the British Grand Prix in qualifying on Saturday, leading a Mercedes one-two-three at the team's home race.

Russell, who took his maiden pole at Silverstone last year, delivered a stunning lap around the iconic circuit to pip teammate Lewis Hamilton by just 0.075 seconds.

It was a disappointing qualifying for Red Bull, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez knocked out in Q1 and Q2 respectively. McLaren's Lando Norris took the final spot on the podium, ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Alpine's Fernando Alonso.

The result is a major boost for Mercedes, who have struggled for pace in recent races. It is also a significant achievement for Russell, who has impressed with his performances since joining the team at the start of the season.
